Welcome to Arkansas School for the Deaf

At Arkansas School for the Deaf (ASD), we are more than just a school, we are a community - a launching pad for each student’s future. Here at ASD we work to empower Deaf and Hard of Hearing children to become highly effective communicators who are educated, motivated, and independent. Our students graduate with confidence and are inspired to achieve their goals equipped with skills they’ve learned here that will help them achieve success in this competitive world.

ASD was established in 1849 and is the only school for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in the state. ASD serves students from preschool through high school and beyond through a comprehensive post-secondary program focusing on career and college readiness. The school also provides support for deaf and Hard of Hearing students in mainstream programs throughout the state and serves families of deaf children from birth until school age through a home visitation program.

As a school, we, students and staff, embrace our vision statement in all we do. We are committed to achievement, innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
