Update from the ASD/ASBVI Board of Trustees March 27, 2024:

Dear ASD, Arkansas Deaf community, and other interested stakeholders,

The Board of Trustees knows that you have great interest in the superintendent search for both the Arkansas School for the Deaf and the Arkansas School for the Blind. We are pleased to inform everyone that we have a diverse pool of candidates from within and outside of Arkansas with a broad range of skills and experiences, including six candidates who have strong understanding and experiences with Deaf Culture, Deaf Education, and have fluent or near fluent sign language abilities. Many of these candidates also appear to have experiences with students who are blind and visually-impaired as well as students with other special needs.

The interviews will conclude at the end of this week. Together with Secretary Oliva, the Board of Trustees is highly committed to identifying the best candidates who can best advocate for the needs of our students.

Respectfully,

ASD/ASBVI Board of Trustees
